Terms of Use, Sale, Refunds and Cancellations

These Terms apply when you browse the Core & Oak website, subscribe, download a resource, create a learner account, enrol on a course, purchase digital content or use Core & Oak materials. Additional information shown on a product page or at checkout forms part of the contract.

2. Educational purpose and professional responsibility

Core & Oak content supports continuing professional development, reflection, professional judgement, communication and related capabilities. It is general educational material and is not individual clinical, legal, regulatory, employment, psychological or occupational-health advice.

Materials do not replace professional judgement, supervision, local policy, employer procedures, escalation pathways, safeguarding arrangements, incident reporting, professional standards or legal duties. You remain responsible for deciding whether and how to apply learning within your role, competence, scope of practice and organisational context.

Where there is risk, uncertainty, clinical deterioration, safeguarding concern, complaint or an issue beyond your competence, seek appropriate senior, supervisory, organisational or professional support.

3. Confidentiality and information governance

Do not submit patient-identifiable information, confidential service information or sensitive clinical information through the website, course platform, forms, reflections, assignments, comments, emails or downloadable templates. You are responsible for anonymising professional examples and complying with applicable confidentiality, information-governance and employer requirements.

4. Website and account use

• Keep account and login details secure.
• Do not share paid account access or allow unauthorised use.
• Do not interfere with the operation or security of the website or learning platform.
• Do not scrape, copy, reverse engineer, introduce malicious code or misuse content or services.
• Do not use the services unlawfully, abusively, discriminatorily, misleadingly or in a manner that compromises confidentiality or intellectual property.

We may suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe there has been misuse, unlawful activity, unauthorised sharing, security risk or a material breach of these Terms.

5. Product information and ordering

Before you purchase, we will provide the main characteristics of the course or digital content, the total price, payment arrangements, access period where applicable, compatibility or technical requirements where relevant, and information about cancellation rights.

You are responsible for checking that the product is suitable for your intended use and that you meet any stated technical requirements. An order is accepted when we send confirmation or provide access, whichever occurs first.

6. Prices and payment

Prices are shown in pounds sterling at checkout and may change for future purchases. The price applicable to an order will be the price displayed when the order is placed.

Payments are processed by Stripe. Core & Oak does not directly receive or store full payment-card details. Stripe processes payment information in accordance with its own terms, privacy arrangements and security obligations.

Core & Oak is not currently registered for VAT. VAT is therefore not charged or added separately to the prices shown. If Core & Oak becomes required to register for VAT, or registers voluntarily, pricing and tax information will be updated as appropriate.

7. Access, updates and availability

Access is provided through Thinkific, download links or another stated method. The product page will describe any access period. References to “lifetime access” mean access for as long as Core & Oak continues to make that product available on the relevant platform, subject to these Terms and any clearer promise made at purchase.

We may update, reorganise or replace materials to maintain quality, accessibility, accuracy or platform compatibility, provided this does not materially reduce the substance of an existing paid product without appropriate remedy.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Planned maintenance, technical failures, internet connectivity, security issues and third-party platform outages may temporarily affect access. We will take reasonable steps to restore access.

8. Intellectual property and permitted use

Core & Oak materials, branding, frameworks, text, videos, graphics, downloads and templates are owned by or licensed to Core & Oak.

Unless a product expressly states otherwise, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use materials for your own professional development, reflection, supervision, appraisal or portfolio.

• Do not reproduce, resell, publish or distribute the materials.
• Do not share paid materials or upload them to shared drives, websites, forums or social media.
• Do not remove branding or copyright notices.
• Do not adapt materials for commercial training or create competing products without written permission.

9. CPD records, certificates and outcomes

Courses and resources may support CPD, appraisal, revalidation, supervision or portfolio development. Completion does not guarantee acceptance by a regulator, employer, professional body or appraisal process. You are responsible for evidencing learning and impact in a form appropriate to your profession and context.

We do not guarantee employment, promotion, appraisal, regulatory, clinical, service or patient outcomes.

10. Statutory cancellation rights

Core & Oak online courses and paid digital resources are normally made available immediately after purchase.

Consumers who purchase online will normally have a statutory right to cancel the contract within 14 days, beginning on the day after the contract is entered into.

Digital-content cancellation rights can be lost where a consumer gives the required express consent to immediate supply and acknowledges the loss of the right to cancel. The Core & Oak Thinkific checkout does not currently collect that separate consent and acknowledgement.

Core & Oak therefore does not currently rely on the digital-content cancellation exemption. You may cancel an eligible consumer purchase within the 14-day cancellation period by emailing info@coreandoak.com or using the model cancellation form included at the end of these Terms.

You do not need to provide a reason for cancelling. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.

11. Additional goodwill refunds after the cancellation period

After the statutory 14-day cancellation period has ended, Core & Oak may consider refund requests in exceptional circumstances.

Any additional refund is discretionary and may take account of the amount of course content accessed or completed, resources downloaded, the reason for the request and whether the request has been made in good faith.

This additional goodwill policy does not affect statutory rights, including rights relating to faulty, inaccessible or misdescribed digital content.

12. Online courses and downloadable digital resources

These Terms apply both to online courses accessed through Thinkific and to downloadable digital resources supplied by Core & Oak.

Online courses are normally made available through a learner account. Downloadable resources may be supplied through Thinkific, by email or through a download link.

The statutory cancellation arrangements in section 10 apply to eligible consumer purchases of both online courses and downloadable digital content.

Cancelling a purchase may result in the termination of course access and any associated licence to use paid resources. Where a refund is issued, you must not continue to use, reproduce or distribute downloaded paid materials.

This section does not affect your rights where digital content is faulty, inaccessible or not as described.

13. Faulty, inaccessible or not-as-described digital content

Digital content supplied to consumers must be of satisfactory quality, fit for any particular purpose made known to Core & Oak and as described.

If a course or digital resource is faulty, inaccessible or not as described, please contact info@coreandoak.com promptly. We may first seek to resolve the problem by restoring access, correcting the issue, repairing or replacing the content, or providing an alternative download.

Where the problem cannot be resolved within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience, you may be entitled to a price reduction or refund in accordance with applicable consumer law.

These rights are separate from the 14-day cancellation right and are not limited by these Terms.

14. How to cancel or request a refund

To cancel within the statutory cancellation period, email info@coreandoak.com or use the model cancellation form at the end of these Terms.

Please provide:

• your full name;
• the email address used for the purchase;
• the course or resource purchased;
• the purchase date; and
• a clear statement that you wish to cancel.

You do not need to give a reason.

We will acknowledge your request and, where a refund is due, reimburse the payment to the original payment method without undue delay and normally within 14 days after being informed of your decision to cancel.

Course access may be withdrawn once cancellation is processed.

15. Duplicate purchases and exceptional circumstances

If you accidentally purchase the same course or resource more than once, contact us promptly. Where we can verify the duplicate purchase, we will normally refund the duplicate transaction.

After the statutory cancellation period has ended, we may consider refund requests arising from genuine exceptional circumstances. Any such refund is discretionary and may take account of the circumstances, the amount of content accessed or completed and the resources downloaded.

This does not affect statutory rights.

16. Feedback, reviews and testimonials

We may use feedback to evaluate and improve products. We will not publish your name, identifiable testimonial or professional details for marketing without appropriate permission. Anonymised or aggregated feedback may be used for quality improvement.

17. Third-party links and services

The website and materials may link to third-party content or services. We are not responsible for their content, availability, privacy practices or terms. Review third-party terms before using those services.

18. Accuracy, updates and reliance

We aim to provide accurate, relevant and professionally defensible content at publication. Healthcare evidence, law, policy, professional standards and organisational procedures change. Check current sources, local policies and professional requirements relevant to your practice.

19. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of statutory consumer rights, or any liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Subject to the preceding paragraph and to the fullest extent permitted by law, Core & Oak is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising from reliance on general educational material, loss of opportunity, business interruption or loss caused by circumstances outside reasonable control.

Any limitation must be interpreted consistently with consumer law and does not remove the duty to supply digital content with reasonable care and skill and in conformity with the contract.

20. Privacy and communications

Personal information is handled under the Core & Oak Privacy Policy. Marketing communications are sent only where there is an appropriate lawful basis and can be unsubscribed from at any time. Essential messages relating to an account, order, access, security or support may still be sent.

21. Changes to these Terms

Updated Terms apply to future use and future purchases from their stated effective date. We will not use a later change to remove statutory rights or materially reduce an existing paid entitlement without appropriate notice and remedy.

22. Governing law and disputes

These Terms and any contract between you and Core & Oak are governed by the law of Northern Ireland, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply in the country where you live.

The courts of Northern Ireland will have jurisdiction, without removing any right a consumer may have to bring proceedings in another competent court.

Please contact info@coreandoak.com first if you have a concern so that we have an opportunity to resolve it. This does not prevent you from exercising any statutory remedy, chargeback right, court remedy or other dispute-resolution option available to you.
